Review: Bodega Negra
If you’re looking for upscale Mexican fare, well-crafted drinks, and good vibes, Bodega Negra is the place for you. Located on the first floor of the Dream Hotel Downtown, the dimly lit hot spot is a great place for date night, girls’ night, and everything in between. They have a fully stocked bar and a wide selection of premium tequilas and mezcals (if you don’t know what mezcal is, check out my #sophisticatedsippers series on my instagram @thecocktailsnob_). The food is absolutely delicious and the cocktails are out of this world. The vibe is energetic and fun and the level of service is consistently high.
Bodega Negra is known for their Don Huevo dessert, a dark chocolate molten cake served inside of a white chocolate shell. After it’s brought to the table, a server pours a hot Negra Modelo caramel sauce over the white chocolate shell. As the shell melts, the cake is revealed. Sounds like the perfect Boomerang, right? Well, the cocktail equivalent is their signature cocktail, the Smoking Scorpion. This drink is served tableside in a flask after a member of the staff smokes seasalt and the glass right in front of you. More fire!
I’m gonna keep it real...the drinks are definitely on the pricier side but Bodega Negra offers happy hour everyday from 5:30pm-7:30pm. They also host a Monday night series called Loco Mondays, an interesting dinner party featuring tunes by a live DJ and tabletop dance performances. Let’s just say Bodega Negra has the perfect cure for even the worst case of the Mondays.
