Recipe: Speyside Spiced Pear

Speyside Spiced Pear featuring Aberlour 12 Year Old Scotch

I know there are a lot of scotch purists out there who wouldn’t dare mix their beloved scotch with anything. But trust me, this scotch-tail I created with Aberlour 12 Year Old will change your mind. I kept it simple by adding lemon juice and spiced pear syrup and it’s divine. Thanks to my friends at Aberlour who were gracious enough to gift me this bottle.

Spiced Pear Syrup


1 pear, peeled and chopped

½ tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ground nutmeg

½ tsp ground allspice

½ cup water

½ cup sugar


1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat

2. Bring to a boil

3. Remove from heat and let cool

4. Store in the fridge in a closed container for up to 2 weeks

Speyside Spiced Pear

Makes 1 cocktail


2 oz Aberlour 12 Year Old

½ oz lemon juice

1 oz spiced pear syrup


1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice

2. Shake well

3. Strain into a glass

4. Enjoy!
